Pay Per Click: What Does an Online Business Pay for each Click?

Two of the most utilised methods on gaining targeted search traffic are organic search and Pay per click advertising which is also referred to as PPC.  The first option jumpstarted in the late 90s and have since become an essential aspect of online businesses.  What a user is supposed to do is to type a keyword or a keyword phrase on the search field of any search engine and the results would show the relevant web sites that should have the information that is being sought.  No company can purchase the top spot on these listings.  The search engines are the ones that determine which would be most useful to their readers and researchers.

Pay per click was born during the Autumn of 2000.  This was when Google came up with AdWords a DIY or do-it-yourself PPC system of advertising.  With this type of system, any business can bid to have its advertisements shown alongside the organic search results that appear after a keyword is typed.  The secret is to bid more than everyone else so that your ad will appear on the search engine results page or SERPs.

Most businesses just resort to search engine marketing professionals when it comes to page rankings and driving traffic to their web sites.  This is perfectly understandable as business owners should also be focused on the products or services that they are offering other than marketing methods.  But, then again, no business could also thrive long without search engine marketing.  A good business should always have balanced efforts.

Pay per click is an affiliate program which eliminates the need to worry about online marketing.  PPC provides almost instant targeted traffic to a company’s site.  In as short as ten minutes, the ads will start showing after the PPC campaign has been set.  This type of advertising also points out the specific keywords that bring in visitors to the site and actually become actual sales.  Business owners are also able to monitor the keywords that don’t turn out to be effective in driving traffic.  When the most competitive keywords are pointed out, a business owner then has the power to bank on these keywords and maximize his profits.

Some people complain about the pay per click methodology since it often sounds expensive.  For instance, a company could pay £1 a click for a single highly competitive keyword.  This is expensive if it is ineffective.  Every business owner must remember that those who click on the ads are the most interested people—they are the ones who are seeking out which sites can offer the best products that they need and is ready to buy. Traditional advertisements are far costlier than ₤1 yet they do not provide the needed targeted traffic for every web site.  Pay per click is the exact opposite as it means not paying until a user actually clicks on an ad.  This is the most perfect form of online marketing as money is only shelled out once an ad is clicked.

Maximising the revenues that are earned from PPC programs are dependent on two factors: improving click-through ratios by doing some good research on what the market really needs; as well as increasing traffic to the site.

A good combination of PPC and search engine marketing is always what makes up an effective web site and an ultimate marketing scheme.  Other advertising methods might replace PPC but they will definitely cost more—and any businessman would not want that!
