While working in the online arena I have seen many so called SEO Experts, some people buy an online marketing book and then think they are the next best thing to help organisations online. Others actually work out how to do certain aspects of online marketing, but cannot apply it to a busy online website.

To be an expert you need to have evidence of success and plenty of previous experience within the online industry and marketing businesses. An expert has to be able to deliver results on a national scale. SEO itself has levels of marketing required to compete online, it depends if you want to focus on a city, a region or national and international customers.

The marketing techniques used are staggered, previous levels of online marketing need to be treated as a base benchmark. Often improvements will need to be made before a website can be a success on the internet with their target audience.

Many SEO companies and individuals only focus on traffic; they see that their role ends when the traffic is generated. Traffic is great, but it will not convert into customers if your website lets you down. Traffic can be generated from many sources; sometimes you can see massive increases in visitors but from people who are not interested in your products or services.

Increased traffic may initially look impressive, but unless it’s targeted traffic it will not help achieve your overall objectives.
