End of Corporate and the start of something new!

Early 2007 I joined Carnival UK to work in an e-Sales role, I learnt many new things and had the opportunity to have some great experiences and work within a competitive Sales Team who all understood the benefits of having a strong knowledge of the online environment.  Due to company growth my role was relocated and many processes and structures had been changed, I decided it was time for me focus on what I enjoy most.

The journey has been long:
I have been working and interested in Search Engine Optimisation for many years. I applied this experience when I worked as Sales Manager for a Web Development company called Apollo Internet Media, where I created an effective Search Engine Optimisation strategy that could be sold to clients. These learning’s were now outdated so my first task was to carry out research and development on the latest Search Engine Optimisation techniques. I carried out tests on an example website (see Case Study), it took time because I created the website from scratch and new websites are not trusted by the Search Engines instantly. Once it was included within the rankings, I could see that my approach was defiantly right and drew in top ten results for keywords and phrases that I targeted.

Pay Per Click was my next challenge:
I have worked with Pay Per Click in my previous corporate role. I was tasked to set up and allow our national partners to run Pay Per Click campaigns that would increase sales and report on the activity to effectively monitor the return on investment.

Previously this had not been done, so it was a challenge in its own right. Whilst working on this project it was decided that our company could reduce the amount of poor representations of our brands online. This was achieved by applying the company trademarks through Pay Per Click advertising. Obviously this caused a bit of negative press coverage because we could decide who had websites worthy of promoting our product effectively, this helped keep our multi branded environment stay represented in the best possible way online.

My recent Pay Per Click experience was focused on overall process managing and the training of the staff at my previous employment. Before this, my experience of Pay Per Click was purely sales focused from advising clients on how they would benefit from Pay Per Click advertising and from educating local businesses through “Effective e-Marketing” presentations at local events.

I needed to develop my hands on day to day experience Pay Per Click Management
I decided the best route to do this would be to pass the Google Adwords Professional Exam, I was impressed by the quality of the training material and the knowledge required to pass. It focused on how to use the Google Adwords interface in great detail, explained how best to set up and organise campaigns and even looked at the whole business Sales and Marketing process. A lot more comprehensive than I first expected. After studying I passed the hour and a half exam first time!

I now was ready to promote and sell my own services to help other organisations with their e-marketing training and development, Search Engine Optimisation and Pay Per Click advertising. My previous background provides me with an exceptional knowledge of process management and best practice techniques that I apply to my own services.

So I am now here, New website, New services! I have been getting very itchy feet because there is only so much research and development an individual with a sales background can do - without actually wanting to sell some products and services!

Please contact me if you wish to discuss how I can help with your e-marketing.
