A Worm Virus has been spreading around the internet and private networks, it has various names such as Conficker, Downadup and Kido. Since October 2008 it has been a problem and now 8.9 million machines are infected. Virus’s can be a problem when spending time online, but mainly they get onto your PC from downloads and transportable media such as USB keys and CDs. A new method of infecting your PC is through private messages on Social Networking websites such as Facebook where someone would send you a URL to click and it downloads a virus onto your PC.
The best tips of advice are always:
- Regularly update your virus checker (there are a number of free ones available) Avast / Comodo
- Regularly scan your PC for a Virus and ensure you updated the virus scanner before hand
- Run malware removal tools such as Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware on a regular basis
- Never click on links from anyone you do not know
- Ensure all downloads are automatically downloaded
